“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” [Luke 9:23]
“I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.” [I Corinthians 15:31]
"So if just a good life's all that counts, they're saved the same as the rest of them by an idol. Their morals would smother over us till we wouldn't have a chance to stand in their presence, that's right, and their acts. But that's not it. Jesus said, "Ye must be borned again." In order to be borned again, it's letting yourself go and die, and the Spirit of Christ come into you. Then you're no more yours; it's Christ in you (See?), the Holy Spirit. Paul said, "I die daily; yet I live, not I, but Christ liveth in me." “[The End Time Evangelism, Jeffersonville IN, 62-0603]
“And what a--what a mix-up the people has got in, today, that, think that, that Christianity is one of the softest things. "All they do is put their name on a book, and have somebody to sprinkle them, or something another, and give the minister the right hand of fellowship. And that's all there is to it. Go on out." That's not Christianity. Christianity is self-denial. "Take up your cross daily. Follow Him." Die out, to the things of the world. When all condemnation is gone, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus." How do you get into Him? By joining? No. Shaking hands? No. By a union? By education? "By one Spirit we are all baptized into one Body." By Holy Spirit baptism we're in Christ. "And there's no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, that walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Amen. Oh, that, that would make anybody shout. Amen. To be in there, anyhow, that's the good part. All right.”[Be Not Afraid, Tucson AZ, 63-0607]
“But Moses, being spiritual, understood that God was going to take the children of Israel out and he called him to do it. Now, he tried it in himself. That's what's the matter with a lot of people today. You try to bring healing to yourself. You try to work up your own salvation. That won't work. It just won't do it. Joining churches and signing papers and putting pledges in, that's not God's program. That's religion, but it's not salvation. Notice, he failed, miserably failed, and run into the desert for another forty years while God had him back on the backside of the desert, where he married this Ethiopian woman: Zipporah. And she was high tempered. Moses was too, so I guess there was some little trouble on the backside of the desert once in a while. Don't turn your wife down 'cause she's got a little temper. Maybe that's your cross. God might've give it to kinda keep you lined up: same thing with you women to your husbands. Stick together: promised God you would, so stay with it. Notice, I'm a person don't believe in marriage and divorce. You know that, so... Look, my brother. If you went at that more prayerfully, there'd be less of it.” [An Exodus, Indianapolis IN, 56-0615]
“Now, we was talking on the word backsliding this morning. When you do that you're backslid. Yes, sir. You got to repent. Is that right? Now, I don't mean to say if you went out in the world and you did this and that, but you done something. You've got to repent and die daily to live in Jesus Christ. So every day--every day, you've got to die every day to live in Christ Jesus. Many times I do things that's wrong. I'll be out, and somebody will say something or other, I may say a little joke about it. Not a bad one; now, I don't believe Christians tells dirty jokes. No, sir. No, sir. That's not even becoming Christians, the Bible said. It said to refuse old profane things like that, and jokes, and jostling, and things like that. No, Christians don't tell those things; Christians has pure thoughts.” [Questions And Answers, Jeffersonville IN, 54-0103E   132-140]
“Third great assault, Satan offered to forfeit this kingdom to Him. He did. Satan said, "See these kingdoms of the world? These are mine. I do with them whatever I want to. I'll forfeit them to you." But, remember, he was trying to get Him to forfeit it without the cross. If He did, we'd be lost. He could have took the kingdom. But He must follow the... He must come back. He was tempted to do it, now. Death is a hard thing. He was tempted to take His liberty and be the King of the earth, without the cross. But, if He did, His subjects would have died. Satan would have gladly made that proposition with Him. But He said, "Get behind Me, Satan." He didn't do it.” [How Can I Overcome, Jeffersonville IN, 63-0825M]
“And you're bound to be backsliding constantly, so it takes a constant prayer to God. Paul said, "I die daily." And if Paul had to die daily, how much more am I going--I'm going to have to stay there dead all the time, if--if Paul had to die daily to stay right with God. And so, we'll all have to do that, just die out to ourself. And that's getting God's way. Now, there's only two ways of anything: That's the right way and the wrong way. And them ways are your ways and God's way. And you can't be in your way and God's way at the same time. You've got to forget your own way to get in God's way. And you got to get out of your own way to get in God's way. For as long as you're in your own way, you're out of His way. So forsake your way, forsake your thoughts, forsake everything, and just rely one thing, on THUS SAITH THE LORD. That's all. Then you know you're right.” [God's Provided Way, West Palm Beach FL, 53-1201]
“Notice, he knew It was there. He believed in It and wanted It. But when he was confronted with how he had to do it, it was different from his ritual. It was different. He could hold his money and belong on to the church that he belonged to, and so forth. But Jesus knew that, and knew that he had hoarded this money, and He said, "Go sell all you got, and give it to the poor. And come, take up your cross and follow Me, and you'll have treasures in Heaven." But he couldn't do it. The other leaders that he had in his youthful days, had such an influence on him till he refused to accept God's provided Way, which was Jesus Christ; the only One who holds Eternal Life, the only One that can give you It. Not the church can give you Eternal Life; not your neighbor; not your pastor; not your priest; not your creed; only Jesus Christ Himself can give you Eternal Life. No matter how good you are, what you quit doing, what you start doing, you've got to accept the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. And then when you do that, He is the Word, and then your life fits right in the Word and it manifests itself to this age that you're living in.” [Leadership, Covina CA, 65-1207]

“Remember, Jesus showed Her how it's done. Forty days of temptation, He was tempted above any man that ever could be tempted, in the temptation of Jesus Christ. Watch. He showed us how it's done. Now I will close, just in a few minutes. Look. He showed us how it's done. How did He do it? By the Word. That's how He done it, for He was the Word. And Jesus said, "If ye abide in Me, and My Words in you," you're back to Word again, the Word of promise. What is the Word of promise to every Christian? "Greater is He that's in you than he that's in the world." Then how do I overcome? Not me, but the Word that's in me. The Word is God. Then I overcome the things of the world, because it's the Word in me. "If ye abide in Me, My Words in you, then just ask what you will." Just keep pressing up. You're coming to the top, as sure as anything. See? You got to come to the top.” [How Can I Overcome, Jeffersonville IN, 63-0825M]
“His forty days of temptation, by God's Word He overcome. I want to express something here just for a few minutes. Satan made three major assaults upon Him in that temptation. Watch. It's always in them three. Don't forget it. See? He made three major assaults, from the highest to the lowest. He tried his best to conquer Him. But He was the Word. Amen. What did He use? Himself, the Word. Satan's three major attacks or assaults upon Him, but He met it with the Word. Every attack, He could make it with the Word. Watch this now, from the highest to the lowest.” [How Can I Overcome, Jeffersonville IN, 63-0825M]
“He come and suffered, and took the hard, rugged route. He took the route of persecution. He took the route of death. Are we, this morning, willing to do, take that same route that He taken? Are we willing to die. Are we willing to give ourselves up to God, forfeit all the world and the things, to serve for Him? Though Jesus was tempted, He overcome for us. He endured all temptations for me and for you. See? He could have took it right then. But what did he take the other route for? So that we could come, be with Him. And if He paid such a price as that, then how little would we be not to take it? When, remember, there's nothing here, anyhow.” [How Can I Overcome, Jeffersonville IN, 63-0825M]
“Anybody can be wrong. You don't know; I die daily from my wrongs, and try to live before Christ. And anybody that's big enough, and got enough Spirit of God to walk up and admit they're wrong, say, "I want the right thing," I got a lot of confidence right there, for that's truly Abraham's seed. They want to know it. They don't know it unless they hear it. But it's got to be heard first, said, "How we... without a preacher? And how can a preacher preach unless God sent him?" That's exactly the truth.” [Jehovah Jireh 2, Grass Valley Ca, 62-0706]
“How many would like to have a--the experience that they once had, a renewing in the Holy Spirit, would say, "Brother Branham, pray for me right now, that God will renew my strength"? God bless you. Look at your hands, everywhere. "God, renew my strength." Oh, how wonderful. "Take me back to Calvary. Let me forsake all the things of this world. Let me forsake all and cleave to Thee." "He that will not forsake all and take up his cross daily... It's a sacrificial walk. It's a walk that you don't pattern after the world. Christ is your Example. Die daily and walk after Jesus. Oh, may He grant to you, my precious friend.” [Where Has Thy Strength Gone Samson, LA CA, 59-0702]
