July 2012 Newsletter: O That My Ways Were Directed To Keep Thy Statutes
“O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!” [Psalm 119:5]
“I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.” [Psalm 119:59]
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” [Isaiah 55:8-9]
“Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.” [Psalm 119:33]
“Like the prodigal son, when he was in the pig pen, and he came to himself; he begin to think on his way, the way he'd treated his father, the way he'd treated others. And he came to himself. And as he thought on his ways, he said, "I will arise and go to my father and say, 'I'm not worthy to be your child. Make me one of your hired servants.'" As he thought on his ways, he turned towards the father's house. It was Job, the patriarch. Not only did he think on his own ways; he thought on his children's ways. He thought this: When his young boys and girls was out having their parties, he said, "Peradventure they might have sinned, and I'll offer a burnt offering for them anyhow." He thought on his children's ways.” [As I Thought On My Ways, Chautauqua OH, 59-0814]
“David, after he did wrong and taken Uriah, the Hittite's wife, the lovely Bathsheba, and was going to be the father of her child, and had caused her gallant husband to be killed in battle... But when the prophet, Nathan, come in and revealed his sins to him, then David thought on his ways, and he turned hisself to repentance in sackcloth and ashes. That's the way to turn. God heard him. God will always hear a man or woman that'll turn their feet to His testimony. David was worthy of dying, and he pronounced his own death. But Nathan said, "Surely, you'll not die." For he knowed David knew God, and knew that he'd done wrong. He'd defiled his brother's wife.” [As I Thought On My Way, Chicago IL 59-0610]
“What the Church needs tonight is a confession and making right to come back to the testimonies of the Lord God. There's mercy, forgiveness. Seems that it would haunt people, going on, know that you're walking hour by hour in the face of death. Why do we continue on with selfishness, and greed, and ungodliness, and--and our eyes on things of the world? It's time we turn back to God's testimonies. "As I thought on my way, I turned my feet to Thy testimony."” [As I Thought On My Way, Chicago IL 59-0610]
“By faith "I'll serve God. I'll humble my heart in His presence. I'll take the way with God's children. I see them despised, and rejected, and drove out, and made fun of, but I'll still take my post of duty. I'll stay right by them, and when they cry, I'll cry with them. And when they're sorrow, I shall sorrow with them. The way they live, I'll live." Like Naomi said--or Ruth said to Naomi, "Your ways be my ways; my ways be your ways; where you live, I'll live; where you go, I'll go; the God that you serve, will be my God." Take that choice, though it pulls the very skin off of your conscience, of thinking that you're somebody. Skin yourself down and take your way with the Lord's despised few, and stay loyal on the field of service and at the post of duty.” [By Faith Moses, Jeffersonville IN, 58-0720M]
“David later cried out, "Bind Thy commandments on my bedpost. I'll honor Thy statutes, and all..." when he seen the goodness of God. But you know, the Psalmist said again, that God is our refuge, a very present help in a time of trouble. So, it's good to know God, find God, get on speaking terms with Him while there's nothing wrong. Then in the time of trouble, He's a very present help--in the time of trouble.” [As I Thought On My Ways, Chautauqua OH, 59-0814]
“If God was so merciful to forgive a man of his sins, and to give him Eternal Life, he ought to be so reverent before God all the days of his life that he will never turn his feet from God's testimonies. Should always walk upright before God. But it's just that way; they do it that way. It behooves us all, while we are not in trouble, to seek God. It isn't good to wait till we get in trouble and then seek God; it's best to find Him now. For it is written that He is a very present Help in the time of trouble.” [As I Thought On My Way, Chicago IL 59-0610]
“Now, that still, little Voice that knocks at your heart's door, it might knock so many times till it may be very faint right now. But let's just be honest, just honest with God and ourselves, for just one minute. That little knock, way down there, that said, "I better curb my ways. I'd better be different. I'd better straighten up. I know there's things in me. I look here, I examine my life with this Word, and I see I'm wrong in many things." Look around, see how good; it's His goodness that knocks at the door. No matter what we done, how much we've sinned, how much we've turned It away, how much we said, "Later on we'll do it," He is still, in the midst of all that, knocking. "And if any man or woman will just open your heart, I'll come in and sup” [A Door In A Door, Tucson AZ 63-0223]
“You think of what you've done. Look at the evil. Look how you've put off Christ. You've intended to be a real Christian. You've intended to be filled with the Holy Ghost. You've intended someday, but your intention will never get you there. Hell's paved with good intentions. Brother, when you think on your ways, do the same thing the Roman soldier did, cry out to God, and say, "Truly, He is the Son of God. And I'll turn my feet to His testimonies. I'll live for Him Who died for me." [As I Thought On My Ways, Chautauqua OH, 59-0814]
“And David was just a man like all of us, that he had his ups-and-downs, and his differences. And he'd been very much in trouble. God has not promised to go through life, any believer to go through without troubles. But He has promised grace sufficient to take care of these troubles. That's what thrills my heart, is to know that His grace is sufficient. All of our depths, and--and troubles, and flusterations, yet God has promised to see us through. That's just as much as we could ask of Him, knowing that He knows the road. As Joshua said to Israel, "You have not traveled this a way before. We haven't traveled it." So He knows the way and can point it out.” [Thinking On Our Way Cleveland TN 59-0706
“Think of what you're doing. If you are a Christian, think the life you're living. Are you living above reproach--reproach? Are you doing the things that pleases God? Have your heart no condemnation? If you're a sinner, quiver under the power of God and come to the altar. If you're thinking on your ways while I've been preaching, if God has convicted you that you're wrong, then I can tell you one thing: I can introduce you to Something that's here tonight.” [As I Thought On My Ways, Chautauqua OH, 59-0814]
“May we think on our ways and turn to Thy testimonies. Guide our feet to that path of life, that bloody path that Jesus trod all the way from Pilate's judgment hall to Calvary. May we deny ourselves, pick up His cross, and follow after Him. As we're thinking, may the Holy Spirit speak to our hearts, and may we turn from our selfish way to the ways of the Lord.” [As I Thought On My Way, Chicago IL 59-0610]
