QUESTION:

Do Women Wearing Slacks Cause Adultery?

ANSWER:

“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.” [Deuteronomy 22:5]

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, ‘Thou shalt not commit adultery’: “but I say unto you, ‘That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” [Matthew 5:27-28]

“Some of you ladies now, to your young girls around in teenage, eighteen, twenty years old, letting them run out here dressed like she is... And you too, mama... See? “Pentecostal Christian women out on the street with slacks on, do you know, lady, that the Bible said, "That a woman that'll put on any garment that pertains to a man, it's an abomination"? And little old clothes on and shorts... And you get out in the yard just when the men are coming home from work. Do you realize that's devil possession? Listen, lady, you wear these little old dirty clothes that they sell in these stores, sexy looking. You might be as pure as a lily to your husband. But if you dress like that, and get on the street, and a sinner looks at you, you are guilty of committing adultery with that sinner. And at the judgment bar you'll answer for it. Jesus Christ the blessed Son of the living God said, "Whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her, hath committed adultery with her in his heart. "When that sinner answers for committing adultery, you are the one he committed it with. Why, you say, "That's his fault." It's your fault for presenting yourself like that. Oh, you say, "But, Brother Branham, they don't sell no other kind of clothes but them." Well, they still sell sewing machines and goods. “You Pentecostal women wouldn't let your girls put on them little old vulgar-looking clothes and get out on the street. Then talk about juvenile delinquency. Not only do they do it, but mammy, you do too. "Oh," you say, "I don't wear them shorts,” I believe that call it, “and halter-necks. I--I--I don't wear them. I wear slacks." The Bible said that a woman that'll put on a garment that pertains to a man, it's an abomination in the sight of God. That's what the Bible says. “I said to a lady the other day. She said, "I tell you I don't wear them little shorts." Said, "I wear slacks." I said, "That's worse." Right. Yes, it is. The Bible said it's an abomination for a woman to put on a garment that pertains to a man. That's filthiness. Yes. Some woman said they don't make any more clothes... “You Canadian women don't do this, but I'm going to say this for what is in America. The American women get so every year they take off a few more clothes. Just to get down to... The first short dresses, now to little bitty things that looks like men's clothes, and things to wear. It's a disgrace. It's a shame. It's a... It's--it's... And I said, "If you put yourself out there and dress like that, and the sinner looks at you and lusts after you, who's guilty, you or the sinner? And he's going to answer for that, and who did he commit the adultery with? You. Who's guilty? You, for presenting yourself like that." And I said, "You'll be guilty of committing adultery when that sinner has to answer for committing adultery. ‘Whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her.’ Who's guilty? You. That's right. This lady said, wrote me a letter, she said, "Mr. Branham, they don't make clothes like you're talking about. This is the only kind." “Can't you feel the Holy Spirit screaming out from you? "Oh, United States and the world, how oft I would have gathered you, but you would not. Now your hour has come. Your god of pleasure, your god of filth, your Sodom and Gomorrah god, has come among you." Even our little kids, Beatle haircuts and bangs across their faces, and little perverts starting out. The Bible said He'll rain hailstones out of the heavens, that'll weigh a hundred pounds apiece, and He'll stone them. Who is going to stop Him? What science is going to say it can't be done? He'll do it. The same as He made a ark and floated Noah to safety, He'll do it again for His Church. And by His Own laws and His Own way, He'll stone that prostitute who has committed adultery with the kings and captains of hundreds and thousands. He'll stone her to death, by His Own laws that He set in order. “But if she's got bobbed hair, wearing makeup, shorts, pants, looks like man's, all these slacks and ever what they call them; saying those kind of things, and doing those things, and living for the world, she'll stop; she can't get through There. No, sir. It'll stop her at the beginning. A man looking at her pretty red lips and painted face, and shorts and--and bikinis, and ever what she's got; a real thinking man won't look at her. "How could that be my sister and act like that?" See, she pulled through one filter, and he come through another. He won't think she's pretty, not at all. “Live for Him, keeping ourselves from the world. Now look. You look on television, some of you sisters, and you go down here and you want, you young women. You're young. I know that. But you're Christians. See? You're different. You don't want to be like the world. You love the world. It's not only you young ones; some of you older ones. See? Well, what does that? See? You watch television, you go down to the store, you see these little old clothes that women wear, that's ungodly. Do you know what's going to happen at the Day of Judgment? You might be just as virtuous to your husband as you can be, but in the Day of Judgment you're going to have to answer for committing adultery. Jesus said, "Whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." Who is to blame? You. See? You presented yourself, them shorts and slacks. Some women said to me, not long ago, said, "I don't wear shorts, Brother Branham. I thank the Lord for that. I wear slacks." I said, "That's worse." That's worse.
